I am predominately a natural light photographer (with the exception of in-studio sessions- newborns, small children, etc.), which means I use only available light for my photos. I believe this gives the photos a better feel and a more natural sense of depth and color. I will not show up with fancy lights or studio umbrellas, just me, my camera, and my talents! Because of this, session times are set according to when the light is best, usually mornings before noon or early evening (2 hours before sunset) for outdoor sessions, helping to reduce any possible harsh shadows.
For indoor sessions it is best if you have lots of windows or natural light (if not we may be better off finding an outdoor location that suits you). We may end up moving furniture or draperies to allow us a better lit place to shoot, but no worries, I’ll help you put your house back together once we are done 🙂
I am a lifestyle photographer, so while I may ask you to sit and smile for me, I’m more likely to ask you to do something a bit more creative or even silly! I like to capture real emotion and happiness, not forced smiles. If you’re looking for a staged family photo with everyone lined up by the fireplace in front of huge studio lights, I might not be the photographer you’re looking for 😉
My style is much more natural and relaxed, capturing those rare in-between magical moments. Those are the priceless moments, the ones you’ll cherish most today, tomorrow, and forever.
